Profile and Experience: Writing

Standout Report provides a range of writing services for all types of organisations (government, non-government and business) and for audiences ranging from professional to non-professional. We are known for structuring reports around a narrative, so that they tell a story, and for writing about complex topics in a way that makes them easy to understand as well as to read. Examples of our recent writing include:

  • During 2022, Standout worked in partnership with Enkindle Consulting, preparing an evidence-based framework to guide the Brisbane North Primary Health Network in allocating resources designed to support residential aged care facilities engaging in telehealth services. Stand Out Report undertook the literature review to inform the framework and editing of the final report.

  • In 2021, we were commissioned by the SA Office for Ageing Well to prepare a Discussion Paper to inform community consultation about the installation of surveillance technology to support the safety of older people in aged care facilities.

  • Dr Kate Barnett has been the Lead Writer for the Aged Care Industry IT Council (ACIITC) in a series of reports from 2017 onwards. The first (2017) involved developing the first Australian Technology Roadmap for Aged Care and researching and writing the Literature Review informing the Roadmap.

This was followed by an update of the literature review and associated discussion paper that informed the design of the Technology Roadmap for the Aged Care Sector (2019-2020).

In 2020, Kate Barnett was commissioned by the ACIITC to write a submission on the role of technology in positive ageing and aged care to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. (Ref# AWF. 660.00116.0001_0002)

The Capabilities in Aged & Community Care Readiness: An Evaluation of Innovation & Technology (CARE IT) national study was commissioned by the Commonwealth Department of Health and involved a national survey of aged care providers, a national survey of technology vendors working with the aged care sector, an environmental scan, structured interviews and a series of case studies.

Standout, in collaboration with a small team of neuropsychologists, prepared a series of training manuals for a course developed for aged care workers by Esprit de Vie. The course promotes holistic care and support by focusing on cognitive, physical, social-emotional, psychosocial and nutritional need of older adults and can be applied in retirement living, community living and residential aged care (2019-2020).
